WINDSOR POWER AND SAIL SQUADRON
    IS SEEKING A NEW HOME
As a non-profit organization staffed entirely by volunteers, our organization is seeking premises to lease at a modest cost for the purpose of establishing some permanency and predictability for its primary functions.  In the past, WPSS has enjoyed the good graces of numerous corporate and other benefactors who have donated space for its use at little or no cost.  While these generous gestures are greatly appreciated, the squadron has grown sufficiently to warrant seeking accommodation that will suit its future needs and provide the best possible venue for its functions.  WPSS is primarily dedicated to teaching safe boating classes, but hopes to secure premises that can also serve as a “home base” for administrative functions and meetings, as well as to provide modest storage space for its equipment and materials ancillary to its functions.
Accordingly, WPSS objectives in this endeavour are as follows:
  • To secure quiet and private premises adequate and appropriate to teaching  safe boating related classes for up to 40 students, and for other administrative functions, such as meetings, on weekday evenings.
  •  Access to premises is sought only during the weekday evening hours (from 6 until 10 or 11 p.m.), although occasional weekend use would be beneficial.
  • The squadron is prepared to provide its own tables, chairs and blackboards, as well as storage cabinets if these are not available at the premises.
  • An upper floor or basement of commercial premises not otherwise utilized during the sought-after hours would be appropriate for these purposes.
  • The squadron is prepared to enter into and desires a formal lease for these purposes, and to pay reasonable rent that is commensurate to the circumstances.
  • The squadron requires secure storage space for various instructional and administrative materials, including books and other documentation, audio-visual equipment, banners, flags and proprietary materials etc.
  • The squadron is in a position to provide insurance coverage for its use and lease of any premises.
  • The squadron would desire the opportunity to post a sign indicative of the location of its activities at the premises, although same would be subject to the approval of the landlord.  In the event that same was not desirable to the landlord or not feasible, permission for posting of a window sign only during squadron lease hours would be sought.
  • Separate keyed access to the lease premises would be ideally suited to the squadron’s needs.
