Dear CPS Members:

We are launching some exciting new initiatives to further our mission of promoting SAFE BOATING in our community and we invite you, our members, to become part of our volunteer team that makes it all happen.

If you've ever thought about volunteering, this is a fun way to help your community while saving lives on our waterways and making boats more enjoyable for all.

1) We're organizing a PR team.  To carry out  our mission, we not only need to teach safe boating - which we do very well - but also to promote it.  So, we need to create public projects that promote boating safety.  If you're a creative thinker, if you have media or advertising experience, if you have promotional experience, please share it with your boating mates and join our team. Time commitment will be one monthly 2-hour meeting plus some participation in promotinal events.

2) We're conducting a survey of boating saftey awareness.  For this project, we need people to help conduct short face-to-face interviews at marinas, harbours, and boating clubs one weekend early this summer.  There will be about three training sessions in preparation.  If you like to hang out at marinas; if you are good at talking to people; if you want to learn survey techniques, please let us know.  This particular job will be suitable for senior high school students who need to fulfill their 40-hr commitment.

CPS is a great organization for volunteering.  Please think about it and say YES to helping promote boating safety!

All the best,

Dorit Girash

ARE YOU ONE OF THE MANY CANADIANS WHO DON'T YET HAVE THEIR PLEASURE CRAFT OPERATOR CARD.  WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

DID YOU KNOW?  To currently operate a powered water vessel WITHIN THE LAW Canadians must be able to prove operator competency if:

born after March 31, 1983;
OR
operate a vessel less than 4 metres (13.2 ft) in length.
This includes dinghies and personal water-craft (jet-skis).

Comply by obtaining the Pleasure Craft Operator Card

All operators, regardless of age or vessel length, will require
